Wal-Mart shoppers are so very good at being slow paced, too. Try not to be in a big hurry to find what you need and get out when you go there.

Very little housing in the actual Bricktown boundaries. Most people live in Deep Deuce, which is just about two blocks north of BT. Go up north on Walnut avenue across the bridge and you will be there.

You mentioned Flips. I wonder if they still have the glass topped tables where a few OKC artists created art which is under the glass?

Well an update for ya...moved to OKC, lived in Deep Deuce and it was a miserable experience. Deep Deuce was nice but I'm not sure why anyone wants to live in OKC. There is absolutely nothing to do. Every female in her 20s is either married or has kids, rarely both, it's like the single mom capital of the world. You people were not lying about college sports you take that serious, not as much as church though, you would think each church is a pro sports team what with the bumper stickers, sweatshirts, and people going door to door passing out flyers....insane.I don't really understand it but glad you have something that makes you feel special. I don't understand why everything and everyone is so country, I saw a total of about 3 farms, there is no wildlife to hunt, and news flash I hear fishing is big but people you don't need to wear camo to fish, they are in the water and can't see you anyway. Also enough with the honkin trucks, there's no reason for it, it hardly snows and you rarely need 4wd...be smarter people. OKC is like a real city's little brother with downs, it tries so hard to do well and be cool but it just has something holding It back from getting ahead in life and you can't help but feel sorry for it. Good luck to all you people still stuck there, hopefully you're not in oil because you will soon be unemployed. As some poster in this thread said earlier I'd probably be on the first wagon train home, well you sir were correct...I'm back on the East coast where people and life are normal.

Once again, church activity is, by far, the favorite thing Oklahomans do as a means of getting out and socializing with people as well as a way to meet new people. Find your friend of the opposite sex there. Going to bars and night clubs is uncool in Oklahoma, except with some young unmarried single people.

Nothing to do in Oklahoma City? How do people stand it in Stillwater with nothing to do? They simply watch TV, or go watch the local sports teams play. Going out to eat, like at the Texas Roadhouse, and getting big and fat is a fun thing to do, too.

Huh? No wildlife to hunt? Go after those deer and wild turkeys. The former are easier to hunt. They like to hang out near the highway, if not on it. Why not wear camo while fishing to be out of sight from the deer and wild turkeys?

Anyway, the good side of fewer people coming here to stay is less demand on goods and services, and so keeping the cost of living down. I don't expect many people to like it in Oklahoma, unless they were born and raised in this part of the country. The culture started out very conservative ever since Oklahoma became a state in 1907, and in too many ways hasn't ventured far enough from there to suit many people. Nevertheless, think of it as a miracle that the year is 2015, and alcohol is legal to buy in every county. Casinos for many people are just a short drive away. And no one says you can't buy a lottery ticket.

If living like rats trapped in a cage is your idea of a normal life then living on the east coast is where you probably belong. Enjoy!

Probably got you a$$ kicked a few times by those rednecks too didn't you. You see, in Oklahoma City the cool kids size up the newcomers. If you are a cool kid then we let you hang with us. If not, we turn you out to the rednecks and the single moms.

Apparently you failed.

I'm glad you didn't meet the woman of your dreams since it would have tied you forever to this place in Oklahoma. Perhaps you'll be content to stay where you are and not continue bad mouthing where you've been. It wasn't fun while it lasted, huh? Maybe no sense of humor either. My apologies.

At least you tried and I mean that sincerely.

You have to be open to a totally different type of city than you are used to. It's certainly nothing like the East Coast. It's not like the west coast either. It even differs greatly than other cities like Dallas, Houston, KC, and other heartland cities. I'm not sure what you exactly had in mind for things to do. There are lots of outdoor activities like fishing, going to the lake, hiking. We have the Thunder, bricktown, baseball, hockey, and other events downtown. We have some great museums. Like you said, everything is centered around church here and to some extent college football. I can see how that is a major turn off for some people. Many of the things you mentioned are minor annoyances that I can agree with.

This is a great place to raise a family especially if you are a churchgoer. Good luck in your future endeavors. OKC has a lot of potential and is growing. It will get there.

1000% agree. My one mistake thus far has been not volunteering at church. I may do that, but really, I'm not religious. I need to get out of here and go back to Atlanta. Going there next month. Wish me luck, as I am interviewing. It is such a shame. The dating life is by far my biggest complaint, more-so than the awful weather (today aside). Anyway, I HAVE to get out of here to have any hope of having a family of my own. Its a shame because my job is awesome. I just can't continue to have work be the only thing I enjoy, and I'm not enjoying that much anymore anyway.
