Can someone shed some light as to why it's so expensive to fly to/from OKC to/from the east coast? I live by Raleigh, NC and have ties back to OKC (wife's family is from OKC area). Anytime I price airline tickets it always seems close to $500 to fly to OKC or have her family fly to us for a visit.

It seems like we end up using Dallas or Wichita as an alternative, but hate the driving...!

Thanks for your insight!

Because OKC is not a MegaCity with high passengers air traffic route going in and out of it.....

Last time I flew I was no longer in OKC, but Southwest's fare from Tulsa to Providence was very reasonable.... although, I can't recall the amount.

I see RDU-OKC for about 360/RT on SouthWest,

OKC is not a Huge Market,

Airlines are cutting back on total seat inventory, and the planes are running very full, and there yield management software overbooks, and get the most out of every seat, on the planes, pushing the prices up.
