I'm looking for a place to live and everybody tells me that the area around the VA hospital isn't a good place to live. I'm 69 and I figure I will die at the VA hospital and will be in and out a lot so I don't want to live across town and have to go 5+ miles to the hospital when I'm at deaths door. Just how close and where might be a good place to live and the VA said I could get a VA loan of $180K?

Get a realtor, start working with him/her via email and phone to line up a couple of showings within a reasonable distance of the VA hospital. Spend a couple of days in OKC to check things out. Check for sale by owner sites in the area. Contact veterans' groups.

Remember - qualifying for 180k does not necessarily mean you have 180k to spend unless you pay closing costs out of pocket.
