I can't imagine how bad the power outages have been in the OKC area. Most of the power outages in Stillwater were fixed in a few days. True, the ice on trees wasn't as thick as in OKC. I've lived all my life in Oklahoma and never had to do without electrical power for longer then overnight and well into the next afternoon. It was caused on two separate occasions from two tornadoes going through Stillwater, not some freaking ice storm.

I can remember around 2003 when at work the power went off for about two hours from an ice storm. Wasn't much of a thrill to try to work under the dim back-up lighting.

70k+ still out of power. You see the wooden cross beams of power poles on the ground all over. They are being replaced with metal ones.

Unbelievable that power is still out in some places. Hopefully this was a once-in-a-century type of event. It's amazing too that more people were not injured.

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year. 5 inches in OKC, 7 inches in Mustang. Looks like a stay at home, mulled wine, fireplace and movies kind of day. Stay safe and dry. Please check on others, lets and critters.

Glad I am vacationing in Arizona for a few weeks. That November ice storm was something. The snow a few weeks later was fun. But a few more days of 70 degrees is fine for the moment.
