hello everyone

im going to be moving to OKC with my family in 3 weeks from panama city beach florida, and i wanted to get some information/opinions on the area before i decide to go.

weather/scenery arent a concern for me, would there be alot of fun stuff to do for someone 23 years old? i like skateboarding, rollerblading, ice skating, snowboarding etc.

also im alittle concerned about school/jobs. ill be going to school there to become a pastry chef, so are there any decent culinary schools? and do you think it would be possible to get a related job? (wouldnt mind somthing like line cooking either)

were looking into either edmond or norman, id prefer a short drive to where everything is so any info on these area would be helpful.

thanks in advance

There are plenty of things to do in the city, albeit probably not on the same level as where you come from. Lake Hefner has some nice Rollerblade trails.

You might look into Platt college. They run their culinary school commercial to death here. Don't know about the job market for cooking, but there are plenty of nice restaurants, especially in downtown OKC.

30% of the OKC MSA is overweight. 70% of OKC is fit. Granted, that ratio is higher than most cities, but we always forget about the 70% that is fit (or under weight).

44% of Mississippi is overweight. That's the highest ratio in the nation.

That huge picture is so awful. It reminds me how I go on a guilt trip every time I go to a restaurant. Because when I do nearly every one there is fat, and I tell myself, "If you really want to lose a little weight, then why the hell are in this place."

If 70% of OKC is fit then they should come out in public. I think you got the numbers backwards. Only 30% of OKC is fit. The rest of them are bellied up at the Chinese buffet get'n their freak on..

Nope. It is 30% overweight. In 1989, only 15% of OKC was overweight. In 1979, it was roughly 8%. In 1975, they weren't even tracking. Didn't need to.
