I am not a native Texan, but I have lived there now for several years. I have spent less time in Oklahoma, but both states have always struck me as sharing a common culture. The differences seemed more due to geography than anything else, such as the greater influence of hispanic culture in Texas.
But what does the Oklahoma forum think? What are some differences? What are the similarities? I might be completely wrong with my view, so prove me wrong!

One huge difference is football, Tx high school players attending OU tend to win the OU vs Tex game lately. There are some culture similarities, Tx tends to be wealthier, and more concerned abotu image than Ok to me. They use to say entering Ok from Tx, set your clock back a couple of decades. Clearly an exageration but expresses another difference I see.

Uh...dude. Texas is Texas, God's gift to the world.

Oklahoma is a foreign country.

Oklahoma shares the same culture with Texas.....just without all the arrogance, as has already been shown (^^^).

Nah, in all seriousness, Texas is a great state and if I wanted to live anywhere other than Oklahoma it would be Texas followed by Arkansas.

EDIT:
Or now that I think about it, Arkansas and then Texas. Lived in Texas for over ten years, but it was time to get back to the Promised Land. I've enjoyed my visits to Arkie and wouldn't mind living there....if I was forced to leave Oklahoma, of course.

Actually, the similarities are basically along the Red River, which we here call "Lap Land." You know....where Oklahoma "laps" over into Texas?

The 2 states are very similar in culture. To paraphrase Bass and Catfish, Oklahoma is the same as Texas but without the ego. I say this as a Texan (native of the most egotistical of all Texas cities, Dallas) who lives in Oklahoma.

I noticed you posted the same question a few days ago on the Texas forum. I find it interesting to read their responses. I think most of the people who say they are nothing alike, or whatever, have not spent much time here.

The traffic in Texas metros is a lot more congested than in Oklahoma's.

There really were some similarities at one time, at least north of San Antone.

But, that was the old Texas. Modern Texas is nothing like the old one and the similarities between here and Oklahoma grow less and less with each passing year. While Oklahoma culture has remained pretty much static over the years, Texas has undergone a cultural revolution from the massive influx of Yankee's, left-coast screwballs and true Mexican's.

Oklahoma is still recognizable as Oklahoma. Texas isn't Texas any more.

Well, to start off with, Texas is purty while Oklahoma is really purdy.
