Recently retired, we (my wife, me) are considering relocating to Bartlesville from Idaho. We can sell our ID house, make a nice profit; housing in OK is far less expensive. I'm aware of the weather in OK; severe weather at times, heat/humidity in the summer, etc. I've visited Bartlesville 2x in the past 2 yrs as well as other states/cities from AZ-AR. For what we're looking for Bartlesville is attractive. My question here relates to access and availability of healthcare for seniors. We're both in good health presently. OK typically ranks very low on healthcare access/quality/cost compared to other states. I'd appreciate seeing feedback from anyone who has an opinion and/or experience pro/con relative to healthcare services in the Bartlesville area. Thank you.

Bartlesville will have a decent hospital and doctors as it is a desirable location for Oklahoma. I'd put up Tulsa's health care capacity as being similar to Boise. Probably a bit stronger given Tulsa's status as a larger city being of longer stead than Boise. Living in B'ville would be about like living in Mountain Home, ID in terms of accessing the larger city.

Tulsa gets hammered on this board and it has a lousy rep nationally. But regionally it is considered a pretty attractive place to live. B'ville has lost a but of it's luster in losing the original Phillips, Co. but it is still considered one of the best places in the area for smaller cities.

One whole chunk of my father's mother's family left Oklahoma and headed to Idaho in the 1930s. We have kept in contact with a few of them through the years. They started out at Hagerman but they are all over the place now. Funny thing, when I was a little kid my dad made me an Idaho Vandal fan. That was back when Boise State was just a JUCO and U of Idaho had the state's big name team. Never liked Boise State since they stole the Vandal's thunder. LOL. But it's easy to see why it happened.

As far as B'ville goes, if you are coming to this part of the country and are settling in a town of that size that isn't exactly a suburb... It's easily one of the better ones in this four state area. (OK, KS, AR, MO) due to it's oil legacy. It was a really posh place when they held Phillips Petroleum intact.

I do enjoy golf, when I was in Bartlesville last summer I took a look (didn't play) at Adams Municipal. Looked nice!

I'm in Twin Falls, also have lived in ID Falls. I play golf regularly w/a Vandal. I like to razz him about Boise St successes. Idaho finally had a fine season last yr, in football. I cheer for both schools. I went to San Diego St and Idaho St. Moved to ID in 1992. The triple homicide in Moscow last yr of the ID students was horrific.
