Hello everyone. Are there any good black hair salons in Oklahoma (around Tulsa)? Or around Muskogee? I just moved to Oklahoma from Detroit, MI and looking for a good hair salon.

Thanks!

Default Word of mouth is best

Hello,
There are shops in Tulsa and OKC areas. I found my beautician by word of mouth. Ask someone whose hair looks good where they got it done. Also if you join a church, there may be some one who cna direct you to a shop. A lot of hair is done in kitchen shops. OK is not a hotbed of black shops, but it has gotten better since I moved here in 1992.

A friend of my got their hair done from someone named Vanessa, but don't know the name of the Salon. I don't think Tulsa is that big, certainly not the AA community, so maybe if you ask someone they can direct you to the salon.

Wait. Do you mean to tell me that there are salons just for people with black hair? Do the Blondes and Redheads have their own place, too?

Sarcasm. Nice. Obviously you are not black. There is a huge difference in care for black hair and hair from other ethnic groups. This is a legitimate topic, maybe just not in your neck of the woods in Fairfield, Ct.

Yes. Sarcasm. As in A JOKE. That's what jk means. Lighten up!

This is Sarcasm, too, btw.---- Uh, yeh. We don't have any ethnic diversity in my "neck of the woods".

African Americans have hair that is quite different from many other races.

It's totally understandable that an African American woman would seek out someone that was experienced in that area.
