I thought the bar closing time was 2am?

And yes i have been wondering if there was a connection. Although a lot of these crashes seem to happen during the day or before the closing times.

Have they gone up? I keep up to date on all the Omaha news and haven't seen a spike in drunk driving cases. It might seem that way though with the two high profile cases where the 4 bikers got killed and the guy who rear ended and killed the doctor with his kids in the car. IntheO! is correct though. I don't think either of those cases happened either in Omaha or near the 2am last call.

Yes, the bars are open till 2 am. If you know of a bar that is open 'till 3, let me know. By the way, the accident you referenced involved an underage driver and the accident happened at 11:00 pm.

I think the biker's case was an underage driver too. Maybe there should be more of a crackdown on that then 2am closing time.

Oh my gosh! We never had alcohol related fatalities until the 1 hour extended bar times! Thanks Billiefan for finding another hole in logic.

Ya, come on. This is so ridiculously unscientific its laughable. First, you haven't even established there has been an increase. The fact that you have "noticed" more means very little. Second, even if there are more you haven't established even a correlation, let alone causation.

Let's try to be at least somewhat intellectually honest.

What and try to be logical about it? Na! Lets just blame the later operating hours, it's simpler and then we can all go out for a drink, No wait.

The whole structure of driving to a bar not in walking distance from your house is flawed. You're going to drink, probably to excess, and then how are you going to get home? You drove your car there. It takes several hours for your liver to metabolize alcohol. Are you telling me everyone is waiting several hours after their last drink before they go home? Doesn't matter what time it is, driving to a bar is stupid.
