I've been looking at Irvine, Newport Beach and Costa Mesa. I work in Costa Mesa, so those are pretty much the only areas I'm willing to live in - I would consider HB but the commute would be horrible from there. For my budget, Costa Mesa has the most affordable properties, but I am not so sure about the caliber of the neighborhood. I went to look at an adorable townhouse in Irvine recently, but it is in the Northwood part - it seems very nice and safe but would a single girl get a little lonely (and bored) there? I was considering living in one of the complexes that stretches along Jamboree - would that be a better idea?

HB is Stanton with sand. Pass on that. Irvine is the best choice because of the freeway access, quality of life and low crime. I wouldn't consider Costa Mesa at all. Irvine is very nice and in my opinion has more to offer and I would be proud to live there.
