You and Cava1990 remember when( your'e old school). I'm one of those yuppie evils that snuck in and destroyed what once was. On the same note many of your brethen came into the Boulder/Denver area and plundered Though I have limited knowledge compared to your experience in area history. I recall some of the old OC days. Now it generally comes down to Pine trees or Palm trees...pick your poison. checkmate. We all remember somewhere that doesn'texist anymore. Like reading your posts to gather perspective.

I second that. Fontucky's photos of "old" South County are mind boggling and absolutely eye-opening.

I moved to South OC (from Inglewood) in 1960.

I've never blamed the people who poured into the area. Change is inevitable and the only thing that doesn't change. When it got too crowded, different and hoity-toity for me, I left for someplace new after a 44 year run. (rather than stay there and grouse)

I don't want a beach community...those are shoebox houses for $1million

I like the paseo del Valle listing b/c the house was a 60s Eichler / mid century modern custom made
With pool and 3 car garage listed for ~$800k in a short sale, down from $1.6Min 2007

It's next to niguel golf course and every house around it is twice size and $1.5m; one of oldest Laguna hoods; not dirt cheap.

Yes it's 2100sq ft; no grass; and no double vaulted McMansion ceiling; I will save on AC as u
Can never cool those double ceilings and landscaping.

I just want a classic California ranch / split level like Brady bunch house in safe neighborhood; I have 3 collector cars and can't go ghetto

Per realtor:

This house has been in a short sale process with the bank for months and we have our third buyer deeply ingrained in the home at this point since they have moved in and*renting back from owners while we go through the last phase of the bank process. Sellers are not willing to look at back-up offers and are awaiting a welcome end to this long process they have been through to finalize the short sale.

Strange strategy...

Our son just this weekend finalyy, moved into a home he has been chasing for over three years. The bank lets the owners go in and out of foreclosure even as it was on the auction block 3 times.
Bank finally evicted them this spring and he got it cuz he had the most cash down and an impeccable record.

It is a huge home. By my standards. Gated community..in mission viejo. He needed to keep his kids in the same scholar district..5 beds. 3.5 baths. Literally 3 levels as has finished attic space. Huge dormered room. Great for teen gatherings and sleek overs...3 car garage. Very small Loy. But great view.

Over 800 k

Luckily he and wife both work full time amid make good money. As they will faint when they see rhe first property tax bill

As for your wanting large homes on large lots. Have. You looked in lemon or Cowan heights! We have 3000 sq feet. Half acre most have pools. Not close to ocean mond you. Bou high enuf to have great views. Our home was built in 73. But most have. Been totally re modeled. High ceilings. Etc

Mininimum price over. Million tho. No hoa. Not gated community. Tustin school district with excellent schools.

Just a heads up. We have been here 27 years now. Btw. We know most of our neighbors. Kids play in the streets. Emmy sister lives in laguna niguel. Marinaholls. Yes loser to ocean but the
Onstage sized.ot! Not so much
