I recently relocated to Orange County. I have two children (5yrs and 2yrs) and would like to know if anyone can share fun summer outing ideas I can enjoy with them.

Are there any local websites that might help me in my search?

Thanks!

Well there has been a lot of street things going on in Anaheim. That could be Disneyland.

There is a Children's Musem in Orange and at least in the past regular museums in at least Los Angeles are or WERE free on Tuesdays.

Being this is still summer there are lots of movies for free under the stars or entertainments in parks by the city during the week at night once a week. Look up the city and museums and you have a good and FREE start there.

.

No. Those street things going on were riots.

Corona Del Mar Beach. Gentle surf rip currents rare, shallow and some rocks/cave to explore.

Tide Pool Beach just north of Laguna Beach. Go at low tide find some promising looking tide pools and stand really still and stare into the the pool. Polarized sunglasses help. Eventually you will see things. Crabs, sea slugs, sea stars, fish, octopi, all kinds of neat things. Do not try to pick them up, they will die (or bite).

The little tour boat out of Balboa can be fun for kids, especially when it goes by the bouy covered with sea lions.

Balboa Fun Zone

Discovery Museum in Santa Ana.

Kidseum in Santa Ana.

Mud park (somewhere near Irvine or Mission Viejo)

Santa Ana Zoo.

Petting farm at Irvine Park.

Holy Jim Falls trail (nice easy trail, hard to get to).

VBS at various churches.

When my kids were that age, we loved Irvine Park. We walked the trails, fed the ducks and peacocks, and visited their little zoo. They have a train and playgrounds too. We lived about a mile from there and got a pass and went almost daily.

Irvine Park and the zoo are really great for kids! Also Disneyland, California Adventure, Knott's Berry Farm, a couple of water parks (I forget the names), and any of the beaches.
There are several good regular parks (Huntington Beach Central Park, Ralph B. Clark Regional Park, Yorba Regional Park).
If you want to read to the kids or something, there are a lot of libraries available.
