I read lots of people saying that Irvine is boring, full of unhappy/sad people, Mexican+Asians with little white. . etc
I live in Irvine with my kids, and they go to Sage Hills High school (New Port)
I work as manager in a large company located in Irvine. It's true that living here costs a lot. However, I can say that this place is the most clean and safe place for families to live in. I lived in Fullerton, LA area, Long Beach, Anaheim. No city can be compared to Irvine when it comes to clean environments. People say that it's boring. I want to ask. . what is the definition of boring to you? Do you expect us to go out party every night? or expect people to walk around the town at night? I don't know. it's true that most of the stores close before 11pm. (Even 9) I don't know what other cities offer to make you fun but Irvine isn't full of zombies haha.

Irvine is by design unfriendly to any nightlife or pedestrian traffic of any kind and to anything remotely enjoyable in general. It has no true personality or any fun appeal. If you took away the street signs everything looks the same. Every block looks like the one you just passed. It's aesthetically bland simply because it's so cookie cutter. There is absolutely nothing memorable about it. You can drive through it and it looks like one long street with the same houses colored the same colors. Nobody says this year were going on vacation to Irvine kids. Whose with me? YEAH. Irvine is a nice safe town where nothing happens at all. Well except for a few murders, a few car break ins, and drugs. Yeah there is plenty of crime running through the safe city of Irvine.

I agree with the "boring look" statement, but hey isn't raising a family/doing a 9-5 job/paying mortgage/paying car loans boring anyways? Irvine i feel is designed for hard-working upper-regular middle class folks who are ready to sacrifice generations after generations to get the next job, be the next manager/director & eventually call it a day, the closest party towns might be Huntington beach/Newport & please educate me more since i will be new to Irvine as well.

The last time i was in Irvine was in 2012 and have these horrible memories of eating thai food in a dead quiet town with same houses - nothing jaw dropping about them & its a different world compared to SantaMonica vibe or Laguna Beach or West Hollywood Scene.

Irvine itself is fine (if not great) for raising kids. I have two 7-year-olds and I'm not looking for nightlife or excitement in my life right now. Take kids out of the equation and yes, I'd rather life in Long Beach/Santa Monica/WeHo, Laguna... but the "fun" places aren't so conducive to raising kids. And honestly, Irvine is reasonably close to a lot of things families and kids like to do.

Educate you how? Irvine is the city equivalent of a rice cake. ( you know those styrofoam round puck things they try to pass off as edible). You know you're chewing something but it has no taste or substance. Some love it, others don't.

Yes, it's boring. Edit: Remember, it's personal preference. Obviously there's people that love living in a boring city.
