I have a feeling most people in this thread didn't know that...

I know they were in Anaheim until some time in the 90s. As I understand it, the Raiders moving to LA caused a division in the fan base and that combined with a huge recession in OC meant no new stadium was possible in OC. So why can't we build/upgrade the As stadium and get the Chargers

I also think the move to Inglewood was calculated as diminishing the importance of OC and IE fans. Said another way, I don't think they think they will get a huge percentage of OC and IE fans due to the distance.

People in my home state of MN drive 2-3 hours for Vikings games. So people in OC and IE won't drive 40-60 miles for a game. Interesting....

That 40-60 fails to take into account 405 traffic, parking, etc.

I recall all the sordid details of how Rams' exec John Shaw maneuvered the team out of Anaheim; beginning with suing the city over it’s plan to build "The Arrowhead Pond" that eventually allowed them out of their stadium lease when they settled out of court. Let's also not forgot how Georgia fretted away Carroll Rosenbloom's fortune and needed a suitor (initial Baltimore then later St. Louis) to bail her out financially. Can't say that I am sorry for St. Louis. I understand that they are still on hook to payoff over $100M in municipal bonds that were used to build Edward Jones stadium along with $16M in studies to build a new stadium.

Shaw and Georgia Frontiere were the worst thing that ever happened to the Rams. They drove a once-proud franchise into the ground. A 20-year nightmare caused by Frontiere's greed. SMH.

The stadium is owned by the City of Anaheim. Who is going to pay for it?

Lol.....somehow I don't see anyone in south county being anxious to pay a tax so Anaheim can change/build the stadium and reap the financial benefits. Though Anaheimers would LOVE to have south county residents pay tax money to bring the Chargers there. They'd probably put a big "Thank You South County!!" on the score board.

I am up for it so long as they are called the OC Chargers or some such, but under no circumstances, the Anaheim Chargers!
