Are there still neighborhoods in Orange County with kids playing outside? We would love to find a neighborhood where you can find elementary aged kids playing outside after school and on weekends. Does this exist anymore?

Yes, but as we found out, if the majority of the kids playing outside are older than your child, the time will come when they are all in middle school/high school and never outside any more, leaving your younger child without playmates in the neighborhood.

I would look for a neighborhood in which the kids out and about are slightly younger than yours.

No.

They are doing homework; or an after school class in (fill in the blank) or sports or any other activity that will get them into Stanfurd, Harvard, etc. The fun has died in Orange County and mirth has left the building.

My neighborhood probably has 20+ kids age 5-12 with various levels of supervision playing in the park, on driveways and in open garages or playing basketball or football in the street. We live on the "east" side of the 5 in San Clemente.

They will never make it to the IVY leagues.

Oh well, considering only 0.4% of students go to an Ivy League school anyway, they may as well enjoy their childhood.

True!

Whatever happened to 'go outside and play'? https://www.cnn.com/2013/03/22/livin...ide/index.html
