13-year-old found dead at Orange County middle school; death investigation underway - Story | KTTV

Quote:
The Orange County Sheriff's Department is conducting a death investigation after a 13-year-old was found dead on campus Tuesday morning at a local middle school.

At approximately 6:30 a.m., deputies were dispatched to Don Juan Avila Middle School, located at 26278 Wood Canyon Drive in Aliso Viejo, after receiving reports about an apparent suicide on campus.
Condolences to the family. Wonder if this is related to bullying.

That's very very sad. Aliso Viejo has closed both Don Juan Avila Elementary and Don Juan Avila Middle schools today because of the kid's tragic death.

Parents have been alerted by the city that they can take their children to the AV Boys and Girls Club, with fees waived, for "alternate care."

My daughter's friend, a 9th grader, was at that middle school last year and knew the boy. He told my daughter that the boy was very intelligent, but acted strangely. He would walk around yelling at people, for instance, so the other kids avoided him. My daughter's friend seemed to think it was attention-seeking behavior, but there may have been something else going on.

Could have been anything, home life, bullying, or just outright mental illness.

I'm sure more will come out in the coming weeks but it's always sad when someone so young feels the need to take their own life.
