Hi there,

I recently posted in the Phoenix and Chicago forums about spending some of the summer months in the US. I'm currently living in the UK but my job is Internet based so as long as I have a good connection.

Initially I had ruled out california as it's simply too expensive to rent an apartment in a half reasonable area. However I recently discovered the "shared housing" section on craigslist, and saw rooms for rent not far from the ocean (Huntington beach) for just 5-600$. this is just about within my price range, but I wondered if anyone could reccomend any other areas along that coastline, as well as other resources for finding these shared houses.

Any other advice for my trip would be much appreciated!

Many thanks
J

Need a lot more information. Of course people can recommend other places, but without some more specifics from you, you're likely to get responses spray painted all over the place.

I think for a single guy looking for adventure, you are better off staying in the more adventurous areas. Venice Beach comes to mind. Huntington Beach is nice, but a bit tame.
