Hello,

We are moving back to Orange County from AZ this spring. We want to look at a 3/2 rental on the ocean side of the fwy. Lived in O.C. (Lake Forest) for about 10 years and got tired of the prefabed communities. i.e. target, walmart, houses look the same etc. Can someone tell me what we can expect for around 2500? Looking to be able to walk/bike to beach and downtown.

I wanted to also know what about the schools on that side of the fwy. We have a 5 yr old (k) and 13 yr old (7th grade) that will be transferring to a new school. can anyone tell me about the schools? i.e. teacher to student ratio, etc. One of the most important things is the kids and the schools that they will be in. Anyone know about the culture of the schools? i.e. troublesome kids, no teacher help, etc.

For anyone that has recently moved can you tell me what you would do differently if you could do it again? i.e. different neighborhood, paid more for rent, less for rent. etc.

Thank you

Take a look at Huntington Beach, Dana Point, Laguna Niguel, and/or San Clemente. For $2,500 you should be able to get a smaller home around 1,600-1,900sf.

California School Performance Maps can assist with the schools after finding prospective areas. Coupled with Greatschools.net, you can see the test scores, demographics, etc.
