Hello All, I am new to the forum and would like some honest feedback about lincoln city oregon. Thinking of moving there. Married with 2 kids under age 4. What do you like not like, positives, negatives.

I have been to Florence and Newport and like both places but I have a job prospect in LC.

I appreciate any feedback.

Thank you!

It's a very touristy beach town, if you like that sort of thing.

It's touristy and fairly high general poverty (per C-D stats 30% are below the poverty rate, vs. about 20% state-wide) that's a mix of both long-term and transient poverty.

So if you can find work there, it's a nice location with a fair array of restaurants and shopping for its size. But I would definitely explore your prospects for employment before moving there rather than after.

I think that Lincoln City is less touristy than some of the other beach towns. It's more like a real town than a vacation spot.

Shopping is decent, traffic can be heavy on the main highway. There are lots of wonderful scenic spots close by if you like looking at the ocean and the coast. You have easy access to a lot of other very nice beach towns for a day trip or a picnic, or maybe a visit to an aquarium.

Lots of really good fishing opportunities in the area.

The big issue is lack of jobs, but if you are moving there for a job, that is a non-issue.

That's a good point - the 101 strip and the waterfront is still pretty touristy, but there is actually a real "town" behind the scenes. It's one of the places on the coast I'd consider living, along with Astoria and a handful of others.
