If I live in California but work in Oregon, do I pay double state income tax? Thanks

Probably yes.

You owe taxes on your salary in Oregon to the state of Oregon and California is notorious for never passing up an opportunity to garb any stray dollars that they might have a vague right to.

You will only owe Oregon tax on the dollars you earn in Oregon.

I believe CA taxes all your income wherever it was earned. So yes, double taxes on your OR income.

I'm no expert on taxes, but I know a few people who do what you're doing. From what I understand they pay a percentage to both, what ever you pay to one state will be deducted from the other states taxes. It's not really double taxes, that would be illegal. I think you should contact a tax profesional who knows the tax laws.

Here is an answer going the other way around (living in Oregon, working in California). It is an older answer, but I don't think anything has changed.
