Default Househunters (hgtv) Cedar Crest NM to Lincoln City, OR

Saw a segment on Househunters last Thursday where a couple currently living in Cedar Crest NM purchased a second home in Lincoln City, OR. They were intially hoping for an ocean view but ended up not finding it in their price range, which I think was $500-600,000. Two of the properties they considered were condos, and the house they chose did not have an ocean view.

I dream of living oceanfront in Cannon Beach and can only conclude that it will just remain that- a dream.

You can look up houses in these locations online and see how much they cost. Just go to realtor.com. Prices are different from one place to another in Oregon.

What would be a good town in which to look for beachfront property in the 400-500k range? Or how about ocean view?

I don't think you'll get beachfront property anywhere on the coast in that price range.

Thank you for your responses. I looked at the suggested sites and so far, it seems that a condo in the Cannon Beach area would be at least 1.4 for oceanfront. One of the sites said the average home price in Oregon is 900+.

One of the reasons I was so interested in the experiences of the Cedar Crest NM couple is that I live in the foothills of Albuquerque and Cedar Crest is just the other side of the mountains.

Generally speaking, homes are not that high priced in Albuquerque. It seems that someone from here is at a disadvantage trying to relocate to Oregon. California in reverse, so to speak.

As I understood it, the NM couple were buying a second home in Lincoln City, and their home in NM was valued at about 600.

What about lake front or river front property?

Our DD has two more years of high school, after which we'd like to live somewhere on water in a town that isn't too 'Podunk'.
