I see that Dallas is pretty much split evenly horizontally (by what we would call a creek, or perhaps it's known as a river), and the GoogleMap I'm looking at may be outdated by a number of years..

My question is, how does this divide Dallas? I always heard of cities that have "north of the tracks" or "east side of town"... does one side host more dining/entertainment/industry and the other side a slew of residences? Is one side more prone to crime than the other?

Or maybe the city doesn't realize it is geographically divided and everything is sprawled out evenly in any/all directions?

Anyone who has any thoughts is welcome to answer.

See you in Dallas in 2 months!

Dallas really isn't divided. The core commercial area runs on Ellendale and on Main street. There is a urban renewal district for downtown Dallas.

The older homes are in the core center of Dallas and surround the downtown areas, and then the new construction surrounds that. Residential areas are on both sides of the river.

There is some industrial land to the southern part of Dallas, but it is mostly surrounded by farm and forest lands.

There are some poorer areas with homes in not so great shape, just like all towns have.

It's more of a creek than a river. In the winter it is full. Dallas is one of the best cities I have ever lived in.
