Question Weather differences accross the state

Is the weather in the Portland area different from the southern areas of the state? Does it rain/get cloudy more or less as you move north or south?

Mostly it's less cloudy and rainy as you move south. Still we get quite a bit of rain on the coast.
The eastern part of the state gets less clouds and rain. It'll get warmer and colder over there with snow. It's a matter of picking out which climate you'd like best.
