I like the location and outdoor activities of Grants Pass and have a decent job offer. My concern is will there be a decent number of college educated people in their 30s around there. I'm not trying to be rude, but it seems like more of an older retirement place and/or not so professional younger crowd. If I'm wrong let me know.

I think Eugene and Portland offer the college grad. 30 somethings more than GP. As for the retirees in GP, they are in the 30-35% of pop. We are primarily a family community with a growing population of children due to the service community. I am not saying there aren't 30 yr olds (presumably single) but not as many as the bigger cities.

Not single- married w/young kid. I don't like the climate in Portland/Eugene and have a unique job opportunity in Grants Pass- but I'm Ivy League educated and worried if I will fit in.

If i were you and moving to GP I would join Club Northwest, there seems to be a fair amount of actively bright people there.
Why do you limit based on College pedigree? There are plenty of bright people that did not attend a college and do just fine financially and socially.

I agree- but you have to admit there is a difference culturally generally speaking.

Yes, ("the College Pedigreed") they're boring. (Sorry Waterlily, this may be the first post you have to correct as new moderator. And I was going to behave.)

Look, I'm not trying to get into a fight here- I'm looking for information. Are there a lot (or at least a decent number) of college educated people in their 30s. Why I'm interested in that information shouldn't concern you.

Actually, the best way to find out might be to visiit and talk to the locals in person and judge for yourself. I have never lived in GP but from spending time in the area during the summer months and from meeting and knowing some of the people from that area, I personally find them a friendly and accepting group. As when moving to any new place, one has to respect the 'local ways' without losing one's individuality. The key is to get involved in the community and gain their confidence and in the process, common interests creates friendships.
Good Luck with your search. Hope you find what you are looking for.

From the city-Data page: Bachelor's degree or higher: 14.0%
Graduate or professional degree: 4.8% This is from the year 2000 in Grants Pass. It may have changed a bit by now.
Well, I don't have an Ivy education just plain old college from a long time ago. We don't have much of the Ivy league crowd here in Oregon. I believe you'll find that more in the northeast.
