Can you Portland area locals help differentiate between SE and SW areas? By SE I mean Gresham and Oregon City and by SW I mean Tigard and Sherwood. Some specific information includes characteristics of the population (ie country vs urban/suburban, age, attitude), crime, weather, shopping, and traffic.

Thanks for your help.

Mark

I much prefer SE to SW, but that's just me. Oregon City has a lot of history to it, and Gresham isn't all that great (too many cars, people and long traffic lights), but Pleasant Home, Boring, Sandy, etc. are wonderful areas. Tigard and Sherwood are a lot like Gresham: too many people and cars. It all depends what you're looking for. Are you liberal, creative, laid back, business oriented, etc. There's a lot already here in the Oregon forum to get a good feel of what east and west are like! Check it out! (It will take some time )

Go to the Portland forum and do a search on these places, or ask your question again there. There's a ton of information on all these places over there.

In my opinion, having lived in just about every single one of those burgs now. They're all pretty much the same. Same amount of crime/racial issues. Same amount of traffic and time to get downtown. Same amount of boxy urbanization bulldozing down older, more interesting (and in some cases historical) buildings.
