Definitely high. I pay $150 a month and have a half acre and lots of shrubbery--that covers all lawn mowing, trimming/pruning, edging, spraying the driveway and sidewalk for weeds, cleaning the irrigation water filters, making occasional minor adjustments to the sprinklers, and trimming the large live oak once a year.

We are a sub-tropical climate so it can get cold occasionally, but it doesn't stay that way for prolonged periods of time. Unfortunately this last snap got all the bushes again, but they'll come back in the spring. What a mess though having to trim them. I'm going to replace them all with plastic ones! Last year was even worse, I remember waking up one morning to hearing sleet against the window, now that was something! And there were flurries in Daytona.

You just have to look around for someone to do the yard work, preferably an individual and not a company. When you see a lawn crew at someone's house, go talk to them, see what you can negotiate. I had a guy do my yard on a half acre for $35 and he was great!

The going rate in my neighborhood seems to be approx. $100. for basic cut/trim/blow no weed pulling, etc. 1/4 acre lots. I agree w/beenaroundtheblock that you might have more bargaining power if you get a landscaper who is already servicing homes in your neighborhood.

Enjoy the cold weather because trust me, the FL heat and humidity get old very fast.

The "S" curves are probably to control speed and keep people moving slowly.

So far this winter seems to be the most consistently "cool" fall/winter we have had in a long time. usually from oct-dec we will get an occasional cold front that will bring the temps down for a few days then get back into the 80s for a week or so. I don't even think we have hit 80 at all so far this dec, it's only been in the 50s 60s and 70s during the day and mostly 30s and 40s at night with a few 20s and 50s. and the forecast looks like more of the same. Now I wonder how cold the Jan-feb months will be.

I'm actually fine with the way the weather is now. Although I don't care for really cold weather, I think it should be this way for the winter months. I agree with ComSense, enjoy it now b/c before you know it will be hot.
