Good morning everyone. Can anyone provide the latest news on the construction of the medical complex at Lake Nona? In light of the effect that the mortgage crisis and bugetary crisis has had on residential construction in FL, has the medical city/complex suffered a similar fate? Or has the State "kept the faith" in its idea of this industrial concept? Thanks in advance.

The Burnham institute is up and running and expanding I believe. I'm not sure about the MD. I also know the university of Florida is currently building a research lab there.

As I heard, one of the contractors had some illegals working for him. The police came in, took them out, and construction has continued. The VA hospital is scheduled to open in late 2012.

The project is full steam ahead and looking good. It will definitely point the SE side towards a big growth phase.

Lake Nona Laureate Park: Houses, hotels next to come near Lake Nona's Medical City - OrlandoSentinel.com

I was REALLY excited when I initially heard the plans for the Medical City. But now that it's actually starting to become a reality I'm really impressed with this endeavor. I think this will be a real game changer to our local community and economy.

House lots will be less then 50 feet wide (according to the article). No privacy. Almost like glorified apartments. Plus ever increasing HOA's. House on top of house in addition to apartments, hotels, chain restaurants, etc...

Just doesn't seem appealing to me...
