I see a ton of bad reviews but a lot are from people out of state. Obviously the best is to live in Ft Lauderdale where their hub is but do any of you in Orlando use it and have feedback? What about their $9 fare club, anyone go as far as to use that?

I'm mostly interested in using it to go to Puerto Rico

I once used Spirit Airline and it took me 11 hours to get to Atlanta. The flight was suppose to leave MCO at 12:30 land in Ft. Lauderdale at 1:20 then 1:50 flight to Atlanta. Our flight from MCO didn't take off until after 1:00pm so I missed my Ft. Lauderdale flight and the next flight to ATL wasn't until 9pm and I arrived in ATL around 11. There was never an explanation as to why the flight was delayed and I was never offered compensation either. When I arrived in Ft. Lauderdale as well none of the staff knew what was going on. I paid about $120 round trip for the flight and carried on my luggage as their bag fees are expensive but the whole point of flying was to save time from driving. My flight back did take off and land on time. I think I would take them again if I was going on a leisure trip somewhere and it was a really good deal but if I was in a time crunch I would not rely on them.

I'd recommend JetBlue if at all financially possible. For around $175 R/T you get nonstop flights with reliability and comfortable seats

I agree and they don't charge for the first bag. Many are now charging for carry ons too.

JetBlue to PR when I want to go is $700 roundtrip. The cheapest I've seen is actually AirTran at $540.

Use Jet blue or Air tran even if its more expensive. My last experience using Spirit was 2 years ago and was the most disgusting experience I have ever had on a plane. I vowed to never EVER use it again even if its the cheapest option. We flew from Detroit to San Juan so it was a long flight with one stop in Orlando. The plane was super uncomfortable, I'm only 5'4" and my knees were touching the front seat. My poor husband was agonizing. I swear that plane smelled like s@#$ and trash. There was trash all over the floor when we got in at Detroit and when we stopped in Orlando they immediately boarded the rest of the passengers without even cleaning anything!!
They wont even give you water, you have to buy it, water!!

So gross, I felt like a pig on a sty, it was horrible. If you are flying from Orlando I guess is just a 2.5 hour flight, but why suffer. My parents fly several times a year to Orlando from PR and they prefer Jetblue.
Good Luck!

JetBlue+1

Spirit is good for a cheap trip, but last time my parents took it from NJ, it was filled with several drunks going down to FL for a party.

We just flew them to NJ back in March and we had no problems. We flew into Atlantic City. Before I moved down here, we used to use them all the time to go to disney and I still always had a good experience with them. For the price, I dont think you can go wrong. You just cant get that good of a price anywhere else. We flew jetblue once and we flew into JFK and they overshot the runway and it was pretty scary so go figure....

We just flew them in Dec. they cancelled our flights home without notification and didn't offer anything. After hours on the phone, they offered a $50 voucher for a future flight. We had to pay another night of hotel, car and food. I even contacted corporate and they said $50 is all they can do, I was like wow. Will avoid them and use Souhwest. Of course now I have to go to Philly but they don't nickle and dime you for everything; baggage, pretzels, water. Crazy.
