My family has decided that a relocation is necessary! We've looked up some things on Orlando, did a little bit of research, etc. I find that there is no better research than asking folks that live there( or in the surrounding areas). I do have young children, so that plays a great part in decisions. What are the better areas to live in with small children? How good and bad are the crime rates(I'm from Baltimore, MD so don't to much scare me, lol)? How's jobs holding up in the economy? How's the traffic commute in and out of the city? What's there to do besides Disney, Sea World, etc.? Thanks

Lake Mary and Oviedo have the best schools and offer a fairly convenient trip to downtown Orlando at rush hour (around 30 minutes maximum). I would say the crime rates are similar between Orlando and Baltimore with good and bad areas in play for both. Besides the amusement parks which most folks who live here rarely utilize, there isn't a great deal to do. It's basic suburbia though the beaches are a less than an hour away which is a nice diversion most of the year and because of the year-round decent weather a good place to live if you like to keep yourself busy with outdoor recreation.

I agree with Seminole County for the schools and also low crime. My question would be where are you working? It plays a big factor on where you should live. If you drive on I4 to get to downtown Orlando during rush hour, there is traffic. It's better to live close to work.

As for other things to do, there is plenty. What are your interests. We have springs, parks, beaches, restaurants, festivals, flea markets, movies, fairs, bowling, camping, splash parks, town events, live music and so much more!

I didn't hesitate to mention Seminole County to Orlando commutes to someone living in that part of the country. Our version of "traffic" versus what they're used to is laughable. It can take 30 minutes to go 5 miles. Also in terms of things to do having restaurants, parks, fairs, movies, bowling, etc. available isn't unique to the Orlando area which is why I feel nearby beaches are the only real perk in terms of things to do here, and as mentioned earlier the theme parks aren't an everyday measure of life in this area.
