Does anybody know the reason for this?
I have children, so this concerns me when I'm looking for a place to live in the Orlando area. I get this info from the stats on this website.

It shows Davenport as having one out of every 53 people being a sex offender. In Polk City, it's one out of every 46. Poinciana shows one sex offender for every 6,824 people. See the big difference?

Probably because the criminals in Poinciana are too busy committing homicides, robberies, assaults, drug dealing, etc...

I'll take my chances in Davenport or Polk City because the personal crime indexes are lower in those cities, so even though their may be more registered sex offenders, the chances of a crime being perpetrated on my family is still less than in Poinciana.

Plus I hope to be out of this state all together before my kids reach school age anyway.

Well sex offenders can not live near a school and Davenport is a vacation home community and polk is very rural so that allows them to live there without bieng near a school. Moving close to a school will not solve this you need to have a couple filter schools in between just for safty's sake. Poinciana is touristy lol who beter to rob than a tourist I guess.

Default Sex offenders...

We have to consider the transient aspect of Florida. First, this beautiful state is very attractive for relocation almost from anywhere nationwide. This relocation wave brings any kind of people... low wage workers, professionals, business and wealthy people as well criminals.

I think that rural counties like Polk are more attractive for criminals because the cost of living and crime trends to be lower... so it is easier for a criminal to remain anonymous, cops not always have to be patrolling like in urban areas. Also residences trends to be isolated one from another... so it is more difficult to know your neighbors.

Polk County is always in the news for drunk drivers, drugs, hit and runs, etc.

Lots of uneducated white trash.

Recently a husband and wife with the last name of Cummings hit a young girl and kept driving leaving her to be found by her mother dead.

The wife had no drivers license so they kept going even though they knew they hit someone.

There are many people there who are a "different breed".

It is like the Jerry Springer show.

I don't know...that data sounds suspect to me...one in every 46? Doesn't sound possible...even in prison!

Here, try this website also and see if it corroborates that data for you or if it makes you feel better...ok!

find registered offenders

It will give you an area overview and specifics on each offender as well.

(I always like to use more than one data point, preferably three or more when I can find them)
