I guess if you don't live in the area and aren't affected by the traffic pattern I could see why you think it's pointless.

I'm sure there's others around that I feel are pointless but this one will benefit some greatly.

Actually, after taking a bitter look at the PDF file at the link you posted, it suddenly made sense to me. John Young Parkway is being extended north to Edgewater Dr where it will connect with 434 aka Forest City Rd which then in turn better connects 434 to North OBT

I get it now and it makes sense and is no longer pointless to me, even if I live 17 miles directly down John Young from that area

It only seems pointless because you wont be using it very much and thats ok, you don't HAVE to use it.

I used to think the Maitland Blvd extension was pointless, but it's not to those who use it, and the John Young extension will be used too, unless they add a toll to it

Unless I move to the NW side of Orlando, I probably wont use it but once or twice a year
