Been here for a littleover three years now so family is over WDW and Universal Studios. We were thinking about exploring the international drive area probaly at night on a weekend. Any tips from the regulars on from attractions in the area, where to park and eat would be appreciated. So far we have the Ripley's museum on our list. Would like to avoid chain restaurants. Is the Titanic museum any good? Kids are 12 and 14 would they be bored?

International Drive is a pick your poison type of area. But there are more than enough attractions there.

You're on a board comprised of locals, most of whom probably avoid I-Drive as much as possible. I live very close to there and I'm not the biggest fan (especially of north I-drive... blegh). Anyway, the one place I do frequent is Dave and Buster's. WonderWorks, which is at Pointe Orlando, is also pretty fun. I've never been to Ripley's or the Titanic museum before. I haven't been to Fun Spot in years but it seems to be doing pretty well as it's expanding. I would think two young teens would have a good time there. At least, Fun Spot seems to have a better safety record than the other I-Drive permanent carnival, Magical Midway.

As for places to eat, pretty much everything is going to be a chain except perhaps one of those massive Asian restaurants. Cafe Tu Tu Tango is an interesting place despite being a chain (it's the only one in Orlando, at least) and features a ton of local art for sale, as well as having local artists creating work right in the restaurant.

As for parking, park next to wherever you plan to be. Each attraction has its own parking lot for the most part, while WonderWorks and Pointe Orlando share a parking garage.

Haha why do you avoid I drive? I don't completely avoid it, but I do enjoy it as a local. I can't stray away from that.

Not bad for a chain, but I like Cantina Laredo if you are going to go the big chain route.

There's also a smaller Florida chain that opened up a restaurant in Orlando called Rocco's Tacos. Not a bad choice either.

Both of them are off sand lake rd, not far from I-drive

I don't completely avoid it. There's just quite a few posters here who think the be all and end all of the Orlando metro happens within downtown and north of it.. I totally disagree and love the attractions area (one of the reasons why I live here), but I-Drive is sometimes just a headache. Way too many tourists, tacky gift stores, bad traffic at certain times etc. I'm fine with south I-Drive and I do go to the Outlets occasionally. There's a couple restaurants that I like over there.

But I enjoy the theme parks, Millenia, and the restaurants on Sand Lake Rd. a whole lot more

I'm one that avoids I-Drive. Luckily I know the back roads that make the stop and go traffic a bit more bearable when I do have to go out there.
There's not much there that interests me anyway. If I want the Outlets or Bass Pro, I'll come in from the other side.

Even though I don't find the traffic to be that bad 90% of the time on I-Drive south of Sand Lake road I'll take Universal Blvd that runs parallel to it to avoid especially the stretch betwen Sand lake and Kirkman, that stretch is horrible.Has anybody seen the artwork on the new I-Drive Live project where the mercado was,it looks pretty nice.

I take this same route. And that reminds me I have to go over there and get some photos.
