We are moving from New Jersey to the Orlando area in January and are looking for a very quiet apartment that allows medium-sized dogs. Does anyone know any complexes that aren't sketchy but where one-bedrooms aren't more than $800? I looked on apartmentratings.com and it seems that almost every complex in the area (including Winter Springs and Oviedo) has a 50% recommended level or less and there is lots of talk of crime and noisy college students. Please help - we're desperate for good advice!

Not too sure you can get an apt. anywhere not sketchy for 800 bucks but check into the Waterford Lakes area. There are several really nice apt. complexs here with GREAT shopping!

Where in NJ? I'm from the Philly burbs, been here 2 years and know the east side of Orlando pretty well.

I agree with the above poster. You will find some beautiful, new apartment complexes in the Waterford Lakes area. It's a great area with all the conveniences and shopping you could want within a few blocks. I have no idea of the prices, however.

Look into "Oviedo Groves".

Really nice apartments that are far enough away from UCF, hardly any crime and close to all shopping/highways.

Default Orlando Apartments

You could end up on a long waiting list! So many apts. in the Orlando area have been converted to condos that apartments are hard to find. Then a lot of them are income restricted. Try the Orlando Sentinel classifieds for an idea or maybe a rental management company. I wouldn't sign a long lease until being in Orlando for a while. Then you get to know the areas and where you are comfortable.

Default Thank you!

Thank you so much for all of your help! I never realized how hard it was to move to a new place until I started looking for an apartment. There are so many factors. Anyway, I will definitely check out Waterford Lakes and Oviedo Groves (I loved Oviedo when I was down there) and we are a bit flexible on the price, so hopefully something will pop up.

Beenaroundtheblock - I'm in Merchantville which is actually across the bridge from Philly.

Thanks again!!!

Winter Garden (17 west of Orlando) is an excellent small town with a very low crime rate. I lived there for 8 years. Check it out.

If you're interested, I have a mobile home there for sale. The lot rent is only $117 a month and the park is on the south shore of Lake Apopka. Beautiful. You must be 55 to live in the park. Let me know and I'll send you a flyer.
