Clermont: Half middle-class suburbia, half retired folks in their own retirement community. Homes are affordable cheaper than Windermere. Public high school average not great. Private school Montverd nearby. Usual suburban restaurants and shopping. Nothing of any particular interest. Overall your basic bland suburb. Lots of rolling hills so parts of it are real pretty..

DeLand: Diverse, some very poor areas, some very affluent areas, walkable downtown area, lot of cultural events, DeLand High is an IB school. Outside of downtown, it's much like any other suburban area. Located about halfway between Daytona and Orlando, a few museums, some good live music, lots of festivals (art, craft beer, music, etc.).
