(Caps lock is on the left, near the A key. Typing in all caps indicates you are yelling.)

That said, why Deltona?

^Sometimes older folks (and I use that status kindly) cannot hear themselves speak so they yell when they are talking to you, so maybe the OP feels the need to follow suit when blogging.

I agree with CoreLysium, why Deltona? The places you are mentioning are not so safe and have drug problems. Please check out the news stations WFTV or other local news in the areas online. A lot of people are selling and ready to move out. Check zillow.com for info on how many families have moved out recently. D

I am 56, and retired, and require a non-party, quiet, safe-independent living community, In addition, there are really no safe places anymore but clearly drug infested, partying, is not a habitat I desire.
I am also researching Ocala, Brevard county, and Village of Ocala, Viera, chose Deltona because I used to live in Orlando in the early to late 70's to 90's and clearly has changed drastically with high crime, traffic etal..

I also add to this blogger (ORLFLA USA)... am a retired, mature, college educated at the tender age of 56! Retirement is great, although I still work part-time

Well Deltona is ok, or some is, just be super careful of flooding or muddy areas. Be sure you ask about flooding with any and all real estate.

I looked at every place you mention for moving at one time or another. Deltona is quite a bit differing from say Viera, but gives ease of access to Sanford, the 417 around Orlando, etc.

My caps lock is broken... And don't appreciate the 'subtle' allegation of yelling...

Never judge a book by its cover.... Human kindness at the very least in polite, etiquette responses please

Not meaning to be subtle. Internet culture is internet culture and it is yelling. "When in Rome..." I just want to make it so that you don't offend people. Not with this post, which is just fine, but if you needed to help or correct someone on an issue, the caps would indicate an angry tone of voice. It's difficult to get tone of voice across in these things, that's why we use the dorky little stuff. I'm amiable, even if I didn't seem it.

If you want to live in "Old Orlando," I think Belle Isle is still nice. Orlando doesn't have the "bad half of the city" or anything. You can find good stuff anywhere. Crime's not bad if you don't live in a crime area. The poor tend to steal from the poor. Drug users are generally lazy. If large groups of kids make you concerned, don't live near a school.

I don't think you'd be hanging out with the wrong crowd anyway.

FL has only changed as much as every other place has. I'd suggest renting first. You're only in your 50's so buying the wrong place could be a mistake that lasts decades.

Good luck.
