A good friend of mine is moving her business to Champion Gate FL tomorrow. She is coming from Wisconsin and although I am so excited for her---I also wonder what that part of Florida is like. Anybody have any comments, good or bad? Thanks in advance

Yes, I did Google map the location, just wondering if anyone has been there...etc.

That basically sums it up... nothing really there. There is a publix, but really no infastructure or culture, more like a tourist stop by the freeway. It doesn't feel ghetto or anything, just very bland and no community feel.

It's just now starting to see some growth/attention as it was mostly built out right around in time for the recession/housing bubble to burst. It has a reputation of having a lot of vacation rentals versus permanent residents but given growth in the area and it's proximity to I-4 along with favorable traffic to/from SW Orlando (versus places like Clermont and Winter Garden), can only see it growing given it's desirable housing other than the fact it's a tad remote...right now anyway.

Isn't it the place where Disney's College Program participants live? It is also only about 15 minutes from Disney, isn't it?

I would think it would depend on what type of business the friend is moving down to start there as to whether it will succeed. If it is geared to older people not so much probably because a lot of Disney CMs live in that area just like they do in Clermont.

Huh? College program kids live in apartments on Disney property, 535 and Vinland road, next to and also across the street from Mary Queen of the Universe Basilica.

I feel like most of the people in this area are tourists and snow birds. I can't imagine why any full time resident would live here.

I know people who live there. It's less expensive than say Dr. Phillips or Windermere but nicer than Kissimmee/St. Cloud and offers new construction. Not my cup of tea but I can see why someone who works in that area would consider it.

I'd just hate being that far South, at least Kissimmee has restaurants, grocery stores and some sense of community. I could see a person who is a senior citizen with a tight budget and is retired who wants to simply stay home 99% of the day consider this area though.
