Which government? It would still be taxpayers' dollars funding it, but now instead of inexpensive tents, we're talking about $100k+ houses. No way the banks would let them go for cheap either. With the amount of investors out there again and the market the way it is, banks are able to get market prices for their foreclosures, even if they need work. Banks would not give houses away and government would't pay for thousands of houses for hurricane refugees.

I know, I agree with you. Kmarc was the one saying that homes should be given away, not me!

Maybe giving away free tents is not such a bad idea.

Miami, Tampa, & Jacksonville also have large PR populations, ok economies, comparable weather (to PR) and close proximity to the island.

Houston, Dallas, Atlanta, Charlotte, Raleigh, Richmond, Norfolk have smaller PR populations, great economies, ideal Southeast location, and low cost of living.

DC, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, NYC, Buffalo, & Boston, have good economies, low cost of living (some cities) and historically some the Largest Puerto Rican populations (still do but just not as popular a destination anymore)

Cleveland, Columbus, Chicago, & Milwaukee in the Midwest also have decent economies and sizable PR populations.

Orlando is NOT the only city, but many other Ricans ignorantly act like it is.

The airports in Puerto Rico are barely functioning and few flights that are leaving are mostly going to Florida (Orlando and Miami), so many are using Florida as a stepping stone to other states. But the ones who actually plan to stay in Orlando and live in little tent cities, theyre fu**in dumb, hopefully they realize theres other options.

You'd be surprised how long you can live in a tent. These tents will probably come with generators and AC and heating too. If your able to live rent free in a tent that means you can save money if you have a job.

A lot of our local homeless live in camps in the woods and would kill to be in these new Tent Cities.

Is the Puerto Rican population really that large here? Have more come since the hurricane? Is that why traffic seems worse than it was just 2 months ago? Or is that from something else?
