Hello,

I am planning to move Lake Mary, Florida from Houston,Texas soon with family of 4. I need help to understand in my decision considering salary of $85K. After going over all aspects, i feel apartments rent are much Higher in Lake Mary as compared to Texas which makes me to post this thread and need suggestions by all of you whether i should consider my decision to move or not.

1. Is $85K is decent to live in Lake Mary and have some savings.
Is living in there is expensive in other aspects as well.
2. Apartments suggestions in or near Lake Mary rent (<= $1300) with good play area's near by for kids.
3. Anyone has experience of living in both places Houston/Orlando and can give their thoughts.

Appreciate your help !

1. Yes, $85k is good for Lake Mary, or anywhere in Metro Orlando for that matter.
2. I like this area, and the units are fairly large and nice. https://www.zillow.com/homes/for_ren...78_rect/16_zm/
3. Can't weigh in much, other than you will do just fine at that salary. Lake Mary is a good place to raise a family.

$85k anywhere in Orlando is a great salary as Arcenal mentioned. Enjoy!

$1300 or less for a two bedroom is on the low end in Northern Seminole County and would recommend if possible to edge that up to $1400-$1500 in order to get something more like what you probably had in mind.

Well congratulations on your new adventure to the Orlando area! Lake Mary is beautiful and is known for its well planned residential communities, excellent schools, outstanding restaurants, and a variety of shopping. Many people move to Seminole County in general just because of the school system. I just had some clients move here from Texas and they are renting for the first 6 months prior to purchasing and they also told me the Metro Orlando area is sticker shock on Rent prices vs. Texas. Most of the Apartment sites will give you great information on what is available in your price range. $1300 will be tough if you are looking for a 3 bedroom. But maybe in some of the older apartments. You also may want to check on renting a home or town-home in the $1300-$1500 price range. You'd be surprised sometimes you can get a better home for the same price as an apartment. Best of Luck on your Move. Your family will love Lake Mary and the Central FL area in general.
