I have an agency I work for here and they have an office there. Also, I have a several staffing agencies that I will be working with.

First take a travel nursing job that offers housing, that way it will be covered and you aren't locked into a year lease. Several big travel nurse companies out of Florida, bigger ones usually have a handle on the housing in the area. A smaller boutique agency likely doesn't know the housing costs/area so they try to give you a subsidy and make it your problem.

If you're in a good position (decent credit score) this is probably the way to go if you're going to be staying here for more than a few years. Mortgages here are definitely cheaper than rent. $1500/mo sounds about right for a mortgage on a 3 bedroom townhome.
