Looking on Neighborhood Scouts. it looks like Altamonte springs is really unsafe. Is it unsafe or how is it really?

Also, what about Maitland? Oviedo? Davenport? Would like to stay outside of downtown because we aren't much into being in the city.

I wouldn't be against living in Altamonte, Maitland, or Oviedo at all. All have good reputations. While Davenport is fine, it's too close to the touristy area for me.

There a few pockets I would suggest staying out of not so much due to crime rather traffic/congestion.The corridor along 434 south of 436 is the primary one. The west side of Lake Orienta off of Northlake Blvd is a bit depressed with some rental buildings you would want to avoid. Otherwise it's pretty darned safe and desirable. Are you renting or buying?

Renting for a year before we buy. I hate renting but we aren't financially ready to buy yet, we will be by next year though.
