Need to get going on finding someplace to rent in the area. Can any suggest a good and safe apartment or condo? Ooops! Where about in North Orlando does she work? Maybe it would be best for you to do the commute and not her because going south is always going to be the easier commute. However, a nice community with a lot of great complexes in South Orlando would be Hunter's Creek.

To compromise on the commutes stay somewhere in the core area of the city. This way both of you will be commuting away from the traffic and not with it. Most of the gridlock is coming into downtown from both sides. I would recommend Baldwin Park, College Park, Winter Park, Downtown (The Grande, Park North, Camden Courts and Uptown Place are nicer newer complexes), Thornton Park and Delaney Park. Yes there will be some culture shock but nothing huge. If your commute is not an issue than also look into Altamonte Springs, Lake Mary, Dr. Phillips, Hunter's Creek, Waterford Lakes, Avalon and Lake Nona. Hope this helps.

Hi! I just wanted to say that my husband and I are also moving to the Orlando area in about a month as well. We will be living in the Montverde area. Good luck with your move, we are also moving from the Mid-West (Chicago area)

The Lake Nona area is great because you have access to both the 417 or the 528. With access to both of these roads you can basically get any where. Lake Nona is about 3 exits north of Hunter's Creek on the 417. I find that Lake Nona is a lot quieter than Hunter's Creek and definitely much less traffic.
