I am planning on relocating to Florida and am looking at the Kissimmee area (one of many areas I am researching). I am interested in working at Gaylord hotels in that area. I want to get into event planning (more than I do now) and came across their website. They seem to be a large hotel with many job opportunities. Does anyone know anything about this company? For instance, what they are like as an employer? Also, does anyone have any information about apartments in the Kissimmee area? I have seen a couple on rent.com but of course they don't tell you if they are in a safe area. Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

When they opened many long term WDW employees left for Gaylord. My friend that works there likes it. They are indeed a massive property with a good sense of growth. If I were looking for an apt that would be convenient to there I would look in the Hunters Creek area, Kissimmee apts would not be on my list at all.

I was working for Osceola County and helped them get the Gaylords Palm in Osceola County. We are very proud of it, everything I have learned about Gaylord Entertainment is positive, they seem like they would be a very reputable employer. It is a breath taking hotel, I have been to their other property the Opryland Hotel in Nashville and I think this one is better, they out did themselves with its construction. I agree with another posting that Hunters Creek area is nice. As well, there is an area called Five Points that is several miles out west 192 and I understand it is a safe area and rents are reasonable. Good luck to you!

Thanks for all the info. I am going to check out all those places when I am in Florida over the Christmas break. It is nice to hear that there is a "decent" employer in Florida. After all the things I have been reading it was really starting to discourage me from moving down there and I really want to be closer to my family but I was getting worried.

Is Five Points located near Jacksonville? When I typed it in I came up with Jacksonville as the location.

I think he meant "Four Corners." This is west Kissimmee where Osceola county meets, Lake, Orange and Polk County. It is a pretty nice area, specifically the 34747 zip code and South Clermont.

Is that near Lakeland?

No Lakeland is much further south. Four Corners is right passed the Disney area on 192 where Kissimmee, Clermont, Orlando and Davenport meet. Formosa Gardens and Indian Ridge are a few communities in this area and Celebration is in the same zip code as it. There are a lot of vacation rentals in the neighborhoods in this area but the apartment complexes are mostly filled with Disney employees.

There is a very nice apartment complex on South International Drive just a mile or so north of the Gaylord:
Camden World Gateway

The Camden World Gateway is one nice apartment complex. I would love to be able to afford that rent. I did look at Celebration and although it looks wonderful, I think it is a bit out of my price range. I need a bit more working class price.
