Ok, I know I've posted my anti-Orlando sentiment previously here many times, but I just want to know for those who aren't bothered living in Orlando, what area of the town or what town you live in? I obviously don't need your address, I'm just wondering what general area is it where you don't face the rude driving, bad traffic, rude people or neighbors and are extremely satisfied where they're at?

Or, are you satisfied where you're at despite all of the above?

I contend that any place east of 436 all the way to Alafaya and Avalon/Waterford Lakes/UCF area is a bear to deal with. That includes anything along 50/Colonial.

I just want to see if those who are happy with the Orlando area are either from Seminole Cty, like Oviedo, or Lake Mary, Winter Park, Dr. Phillips, Windermere, and other "upscale" towns versus the other places in Orange county I described.

Bryn Mawr in the Conway area!
I think where you live in the Orlando area can make all the difference in the world.

Windermere;
It is a lovely place, great for families and/or for people that like a beautiful, quiet place where you can be into the city in 20-25 minutes, orange groves and countryside in 10 mins, theme parks in 10-15 minutes, or just enjoy the lakes and beautiful neighborhoods right at home. It isn't cheap, but the good areas of town will inherently have the higher property values; there is, however, a broad price range. Many community events and lots of pride in the community.

I live downtown in Delaney Park. I have everything I could need down here. Nice people, beautiful historic neighborhoods, immediate interstate or 408 access, multiple lakes and parks, tree lined streets, shopping - hell I just saw a National Pink Floyd cover band on Bumby less than 5 minutes from my house on Saturday! I love chain restaurants but down here I am all about the mom and pop shops and there are so many.

I work in Altamonte and I enjoy it as well - it's terribly crowded and not as liberal, but I love that area.

I agree that it all depends on where you live how you feel about Orlando. I lived in Altamonte and loved it, Metrowest and was depressed the entire time, St. Cloud and wanted to move out of this town as fast as I could - and now I live downtown and love every minute of it.

Ok, fair enough, thanks for the responses so far. I guess if I lived in some place like Lake Mary or Windermere or less crowded, less traffic area, my wife and I would probably be happier too. I live east of UCF, which is probably why I have such a bad impression of the traffic and driving in the area. We still live where we're at when we moved here over 10 years ago, but it wasn't as bad then, until all the development at Avalon and Waterford Lakes showed up. My wife likes the shopping area at Waterford Lakes, but there's just too many people there at one time. She has to do all her shopping before 10 in the morning just to escape the traffic and crowds.

We probably would be happy if we lived in some of the places you described, or even around the Cape Coral or Naples areas, as we liked it down there as well. We also like Melbourne and other parts of Brevard county along the east coast. But our days are numbered, we just bought a foreclosure home up north at a decent price and will get it fixed while we wait for my kids to finish school down here. In the meantime, I'll enjoy your company for a few more years and try not to be so mean about this place, until the next idiot cuts me off or cusses me out while in the middle of traffic during one of those hot, humid summer days...

Lake Nona. We used to live near Waterford in Stoneybrook and moved away for the same reasons you just described (traffic, rude people, etc.). We found that the Lake Nona area is similar to what the Waterford area used to be before it grew too fast... and think that the growth happening over here is on a better track & is well planned.

I live in Debary. I love living here. It would be nice to be closer to downtown for jobs but I hate the traffic of places like Alta Monte Springs, that would make me crazy to live there. I am used to living in a small town that only recently got a stop light.

I do however have this neighbor who clearly has a little man syndrome and he loves his lawn to the point that he will come screaming out of his house if anyone treads upon it. For example our little neighbor who got inline skates for Christmas fell on his lawn, she was skating on the side walk but fell onto his lawn, he came out of his house yelling at this tiny little girl. Thats not something peculiar to Florida however.

Any neighborhood can have people like the retirees that have nothing better to do then walk around the whole neighborhood, taking pictures to report them to the HOA. I have to say thats my major gripe with where I Live, but again, that could happen anywhere.

I've lived in MetroWest, Park Central apartments, 436 Semoran (the worst IMO), but the place I like the best and will surprise everyone is BVL in Kissimmee. I find it very peaceful and close to everything I need. Yep, BVL but to each their own.
