Hi there,

i am moving to Orlando in about 3 weeks and found a place to rent in Winter Garden. It is located in Spring Leap drive. Is this a good area of town to live in?

Is there crime? Cost of living? Good area? Near entertainment and hotspots?

I have dug around the internet and google earth but there is nothing like getting opinions from people who are actually familiar with the area.

Thank you in advance for your time!

It's not the least desirable, but far from the most desirable.

Winter Garden is experiencing crime creep from neighboring Ocoee. You are pretty far to the west of it, but normal common sense needs to be used. Cost of living? You didn't figure that out before deciding to move? Where will you be working? Cost of living is relevent to your income. No "hotspots" anywhere near there. Down Daniels to Winter Garden Village, Urban Flats has a singer/songwriter some nights.

I didin't buy the property. I got an offer to rent it, nothing is final though. That is why im in here asking first. Its 400 bucks a month with utilities included in a 5 bedroom home. Im looking to rent a room while i get to know the area then rent a condo or house. However I would like to start off in a cool area to get to know the city. What is a cool area for someone my age?

Not there. Downtown, College Park, Colonialtown, Winter Park are all hip places.

Where will you be working? Commuting around here can be brutal.

So in the Disney area? In that case there's really no where convenient to live to where you work that's going to be near the "hot spots" so you might want to look at one of the downtown condos. Many are walking distance to the many clubs.

You may want to visit a couple of weeks and check things out before making any final decisions. Just because a particular area isn't right for one person....doesn't mean it isn't right for you. Orlando is cool in that it meets such a variety of what people are looking for.
Do keep in mind your commute since some are easier than others.
Good luck and WELCOME to Orlando!

Parrammore, Pine Hills, Kissimmee are good places to avoid.
