Being the tourism capital of the world, that will always remain part of Orlando's identity.
I feel better they embrace that rather than try to market themselves as something they are not.

Residents claim there is so much more to this city than WDW, which is absolutely true- but without WDW this place would not even be up for discussion as a major city. It would be on the lines of Valdosta, GA or any of the other B cities of the South.

Still, Orlando retains tourism but is far more livable than Las Vegas. Almost all Southern cities are growing, and Orlando faster than many of them.

I totally agree with this.

And it's hard for me to see Atlanta as more than a place where people go to connect to a flight.

ATL is a major city. Other than traffic and crime issues, I like ATL. I really like the northern burbs (Roswell, Alpharetta, John's Creek --- think Lake Mary with hills and 4 seasons --- its really nice).

Your comparison of those areas with Lake Mary is accurate. I've lived in Alpharetta, Sandy Springs, and Dunwoody. Alpharetta is the most similar IMO. I'd rather live in Decatur though if I had to do it all again (which I wouldn't unless I had to).

There is Totally no compairson when it comes to Atlanta and Orlando, Not even in the same ranks. Atlanta has a Large Downtown and Midtown area as well as at least two Surburban Edge Cities that probally has more Office Space than Downtown Orlando Alone. True Orlando is a Growing and Beautiful Tourist Metro Area, but no where even close to the same type of City..Believe me its way more than a Place to Connect a Flight, no hard feelings.

I absolutely agree. But it's just like saying Orlando only has Disney. The big city things that Orlando has have already been well documented in this thread.
