Note that your hotel is on three bus routes and within a few blocks of five more, so even without using transfers you can go a lot of places (Downtown Orlando, Disney, Universal, and Seaworld will all be on buses that go near your hotel without transfers). A 7 day bus pass is $16.

Greyhound (bus) to Dayton beach is $24.64 round trip if you buy the tickets online. It's an hour and 5 minutes according to the bus schedule and they have several buses per day.

That's good to know. Being the OP are young, they may want to definately hit up Daytona Beach. It's going to be spring break and there will be lots of guys there and I'm sure parties.

I was wondering if you could take one of the casino buses out to the beach. They are free and instead of going on the casino boat, head over to the beach. Has anyone ever done this?

It won't work--the casino boats leave from Port Canaveral, it's a pretty goo poke from there to Cocoa Beach. You couldn't walk it. Also I think that there is only one casino boat still in operation, and it only sails late afternoon or evening.

It's a good idea to print the LYNX bus schedule from online before coming here to vacation.

I am coming to Orlando on holiday (vacation) with 3 friends from England for 2 weeks at the end of Feb/start of March. We are all early 20's.

I am looking for any ideas of things to do or places to go. We have tickets for the Disney Parks, Universal Parks and Busch Gardens but are looking for other things to do as well for when we are over there. We will not be hiring a car so will just be using public transport. We are stopping on International Drive close to Universal. These are the kind of things that we are looking for:

Nightlife - will be looking for about 3 or 4 nights out whilst we are there so are wondering where the best places to go are?

Other interesting places to visit.

Would like to visit to the University area so are looking for advice on how to get there without the use of a car.

How to get to downtown Orlando from I Drive?

I've heard that Winter Park is a nice place to visit, is it possible to get there without a car?

Also, what is the weather ussually like around this time of year?

Thanks in advance for any advice/ideas.

Tom
You need to rent a car in Florida... no one takes public transportation unless they can't afford a car. You will see why when you come, the cities in Florida aren't designed for public transporation or walking. You could get away without a car if you stayed in South Beach, but that's about it. There is an International Drive Trolley, but I believe it's privately owned. If you rent a car, you should check out Fort Lauderdale or Miami Beach. The Hardrock Seminole has great night life with some of the best looking women in FL. Daytona Beach hasn't been a party destination for spring break for awhile now. They cracked down a lot over the years. The party in Florida has moved to Panama City. (I'm a senior in college). Two weeks in O town is a lot. Rent a car and spend a week in South Florida. You can do all the theme parks/water parks in Orlando and the adult stuff and beach in Miami Beach. You could also check out UF (University of Florida) in Gainesville. That's an awesome campus and a cool college town.

Definitely get to downtown Orlando, preferably on a Saturday night which will be the most packed. To add to the list of places people are recommending, check out Eye Spy if you want a good 'underground' dance scene, and right next to it, Independent Bar which has 80s and new wave usually, but a really nice dancefloor with amazing lighting and video. For hip hop and dance music, Bliss on Church St is the nicest. It's nicer than Tabu or Antigua. Antigua right nearby and Latitudes up above it are worth checking out. There are tons of places downtown actually...I think that 2 nights could easily be filled.

Cheers for all the advice on clubs in downtown Orlando guys and the stuff on buses. Looks like we'll definitely have at least 2 nights there. Didn't realise it was going to be spring break when we are over there. Do you think the parks will be a lot busier at this time of year? Also was looking at the Daytona Beach Spring Break website, have the cracked down a lot there or is there still a lot of students that go there for spring break?

Yes the parks are more crowded during spring break and summer than any other time of the year.

I know they've cracked down on Daytona, but everytime I go during spring break, the beach is packed. It's sometime in March. (March 8 to end of month) . The end of Feb-March will be bike week in Daytona. There will be lots of festivities and motorcycles. At that I agree with the OP about Panama City being the new spring break site, but that's way to far for the OP. I still think the beach is a good idea.

Heres the link for bike week:
