We are looking into these apt. Does anyone have any comments- good or bad about them? Are they located in a safe area? What is the 417 ? It is a main highway like I 4?

We have a baby and I will be at home for most of the time - for us is important to be in a safe neighborhood.

any comments would be appreciated.

Pretty much anywhere in Oviedo is safe. You can see crime stats in a nice map on the Seminole County Sherrif's website. You'll find what little crime does occur in Seminole County is in Altamonte and Sanford typically, which is on the opposite side of the county. Keep in mind Oviedo is by UCF, you don't specify your age but most apartments in Oviedo will have a predominate number of students from UCF, Valencia, SSC, and FullSail.

417 is an Expressway with tolls on it. You'll want a sunpass. It is primarily used to funnel people in and out of Orlando. 417 runs North and South, 408 runs East and West, I-4 runs East and West.

From Oviedo if you want to avoid going through town to Winter Park or Orlando where the nearest I-4 entrance is you would get on the 417 going South then merge onto the 408 going West and it will take you straight into downtown Orlando. You can also take it onto I-4 and from I-4 West it's like 4 miles from the Turnpike.
