Everyone seems to be listing things they miss from the past. OK, let's try what things you do not miss from the past. I'll start it off.

Computers with tape drives (before affordable disk drives)
Expensive two-head VCRs that had "dew" indicators and no remotes
Expensive movies for VCRs ($75 each)
8-track tape players
300-baud modems
Push mowers (when cutting grass that is 6 inches or higher)

Only on three channels? Heck, he is on about 25 channels at once on our cable.

I'm talking about when there was no cable; only ABC, CBS and NBC

I do not miss and I repeat, DO NOT MISS, big hair, blue or green eyeliner and pink lipstick. I do not miss sweater-dresses (which I noticed in Target, they're back in...so help us God). I do not miss, 38 pairs of socks pushed down into a scrunch over velcro Reeboks (never do the velcro, just leave it to the side). I do not miss stretchy pants, whoever invented those needs to be slapped. I do not miss adidas sneakers with the HUGE fat laces and parachute pants. I do not miss getting a perm and looking like a frizzball (more than once of course). I do not miss those stupid banana clips that pulled all your hair back so it looked like a horse's mane. I do not miss going to Six Flags Great Adventure (worst amusement park on earth). I do not miss school pictures which always came out bad no matter what your mom did to your hair or clothes. I do not miss my mom chopping all my hair off at the start 2nd grade and then suggesting I be Peter Pan for Halloween (I'm a girl for crying out loud!!). I do not miss being Peter Pan for Halloween in 2nd grade (yeah, I caved in). I do not miss having pimples and a weird squeaky voice during puberty. And I do not and will never ever, EVER miss mullets or the gelled back hair!

Default The good old days weren't so good.....

- Polio
- Help Wanted Ads in the paper for "boy wanted" or "girl wanted."
- Mom telling black guys they couldn't drink in the bar where she worked, they could only buy "package goods" (carry out) alcohol.
- Lack of air conditioning, in the house, in the car.....thank goodness for the movies on Saturday afternoons in summer.
- Poverty, holes in my clothes, no hot water.
- Lack of sex education. Ignorance was NOT bliss.
- No cable TV or satellite. Stuck watching Lawrence Welk with Dad.
- Hush puppies and/or fruit boots. White socks.
- Tires lasting less than 10,000 miles. Oil changes at 2,000 miles.
- Leaded gas that rotted mufflers.
- Replacing wheel bearings every 6 months on that old Ford Falcon.
- Setting points, replacing condensors, spark plug wires, rotors and distributor caps.
- Car radio's that had only AM, nothing else. No gauges either, just idiot lights.
- The Cold War.....in all it's forms....Conelrad, Duck & Cover Civil Defense drills in the halls at school, Korean War, Vietnam, more....
- Polyester double-knit bell-bottoms, stacked heels, crushed velvet, paisley, white patent leather shoes/belts, the Full Cleveland.
