Good morning peevers.

We're due for a yucky wet one today.

I'm eating my breakfast at the moment- a fruit salad and yogurt.

I tend to buy the pre-prepared ones that have a small amount of different types of fruit, as if I were to buy the individual things like pineapple, kiwi, melons and so on they would be just as expensive and might go off.

I've had a couple of these where one of the fruits has gone off. Indeed I once got a load of strawberries for an event and they were off before their use by date.

That brings me to the POTD, which is;

Food going off before the use by date.

Milk especially! Oh I hate when that happens. Thanks for sharing that one.

It happens to me a lot as I only eat at home 3 days a week, working the other 4, I like smaller portions too. If I buy too much, it goes bad.

I can think of some folks who are like food gone bad before their use date! LOL!

good one, Ruby Wilfong.

I drink milk too fast for that to sour. But lettuce-how can something be green and crisp one day and black and drippy the next. sigh

Sure can be a hit or miss. Some things last well past their date, then with others it seems the day after I bought it I have to toss or throw out to the goats (depending on what it is).

Equally bad is something that you know has been in the refrigerator for a while but has no date. Should I or shouldn't I

That's a really good peeve, Jezer. A couple of weeks ago I bought a pint of strawberries, ate several the first day, and when I went to get some the second day they were all moldy! Dang! Strawberries in this area are not cheap.

Yes! I second the nomination of this peeve!

Lately, I've been noticing that the milk I buy goes sour three or four days before the printed expiration date. They're obviously playing fast and loose over at the local processing plant, and it's not amusing.

Ditto Unless I make strawberry shortcake. They seem to disappear pretty quick.
