My family got our first B&W Sylvania set in 1959.

I too remember big radios with glowing tubes, cloth covered wiring, wooden knobs and carved speaker grates.

My parents TV was a black I think bakealite floor model with the porthole tube.. 3 channels maybe a 4th if the wind was blowing

I remember the old days when people actually had to have talent to be a celebrity. You had to be able to sing, dance, act, tell jokes or all 4.

You didn't just make a reality show and get credit for fame although you can do nothing like the Kardashians and other no-talents on tv.

I remember when you needed a wire whisk to mix a can of condensed tomato soup with a can of water. Yes, it used to be so thick you had to scoop it out of the can instead of pour it out.
